Abstract

This comprehensive review examines the intricate relationship between land use and carbon emissions, highlighting the critical role of land use changes in global carbon cycles and climate change. The paper explores three main aspects: the impact of deforestation and afforestation on carbon emissions, agricultural practices and their carbon footprints, and urbanization's effects on land use and carbon dynamics. Through an extensive analysis of existing literature, the study reveals significant findings regarding carbon sequestration potentials, emission patterns, and mitigation strategies. The review emphasizes the importance of sustainable land management practices in addressing climate change challenges and provides valuable insights for policymakers and researchers working towards carbon neutrality and environmental sustainability.

Keywords: Land Use; Carbon Emissions; Deforestation; Agriculture; Urbanization; Climate Change; Carbon Sequestration; Sustainable Land Management.
