A Comprehensive Review of the Natural Approach

Abstract
The Natural Approach put forward by Terrell and Krashen in 1983 based on Terrell’s teaching experience and Krashen’ s language acquisition theories as well as taking advantages of the Direct Method, TPR and the Communicative Approach aiming at developing students communicative skills has proven to be an effective way in the second language learning. This paper is a comprehensive literature review to the Natural Approach concerning its background, theoretical basis, principles, features, teaching procedures, advantages, and limitations.
