Abstract

In recent years, the Reiss’s text typology not only provides a theoretical basis for the translator's choice of translation strategies, but also provides a theoretical basis for the corresponding research of corpus. According to it, translation strategies are determined by the text type of source texts, and there is no single absolute translation strategy that can be used in all translation practice. Guided by the theory, this paper will illustrate how how text typology can guide translation activities and how to translate political and economic speeches more accurately in translation activities according to the examples in the English-Chinese bilingual parallel corpora of Boao Forum for Asia.
