Research on Chinese Senior High School English Textbooks from the Perspective of Intercultural Communication: A Case Study of the Compulsory Modules of People's Education Edition

Abstract

This paper, based on Byram's model and 2017 high - school English curriculum standards, studies People's Education Edition high - school English compulsory - module texts. It analyzes their coherence in themes, difficulty, and cultural integration, as well as intercultural content distribution.The paper proposes four ways to cultivate intercultural skills in teaching: emphasizing communication authenticity, critical thinking in textbook selection, promoting traditional culture, and deepening Western - culture understanding. It also suggests optimizing textbook intercultural content to foster globally - aware talents.
