Abstract

As international academic exchanges become more frequent, the importance of academic English writing skills for Chinese university and postgraduate students engaging in effective academic communication is becoming increasingly significant. However, poor paper quality due to insufficient language expression abilities and academic vocabulary proficiency is currently widespread. In response to this situation, this study explores the application of corpus linguistics in enhancing the academic vocabulary levels of Chinese students who are not majoring in English. By applying corpus linguistics directly (data-driven learning (DDL)) and indirectly (such as academic word lists (AWL)), practical corpus-based teaching strategies are proposed for both teachers and students, with the aim of providing effective practical guidance to teachers and students and improving overall academic English writing skills.
