Abstract
This paper examines Engels’ views on translation practice by situating them within their historical context. Engels’ core insights on translation encompass eight aspects: 1) translator selection; 2) translator authority; 3) professional ethics for translators; 4) faithful reproduction of the original work’s central ideas; 5) enhancing communication effectiveness through linguistic optimization; 6) promoting refinement of the original work via multiple translations; 7) adapting to local conditions; and 8) standardization of operational norms. Engels’ practical approach to translation emphasizes an integrated system combining translation and dissemination, focusing on text selection, translation strategy, and reader reception.
